TV Show

sds“Chris Cox Horsemanship” airs twice a week on RFD-TV, the popular rural-theme television network available as a basic channel to 40 million homes. (DirectTV channel 345 and Dish Network channel 231.)

Taped at his Diamond Double C Ranch in Mineral Wells, TX, Chris’ half hour show features new and exciting topics as well as previous episodes that were the most requested from our viewers. Special episodes also feature Chris visiting ranches across the country to work with horses and their owners as part of our “Problem Horse Series”.

Chris’ motto of “Building Confidence Through KnowledgeSM” gives viewers an idea of what they can expect to learn. Raised on a cattle ranch in the wilds of Australia, Chris has a strong background in both Western and English disciplines. He has implemented a style and technique that has universal effectiveness, whatever the riding style. His common sense, straight forward approach enables horsemen and women at all levels to gain insight into horse behavior and leads them into a safe, versatile partnership…on the ground and in the saddle. Chris travels regularly to expos and horse events across the country, and holds numerous clinics at his 175-acre training facility near Mineral Wells, Texas, throughout the year.

Back episodes are available for just $19.99 per show, click here to browse selection.

Repetition: Repeating in small steps is a good way to help your horse to gain confidence and understanding. For instance, when you first put on a saddle pad, take it off again right away. Do this again and again until the horse understands that one step and has confidence that it is a safe thing. The horse needs to understand that pressure doesn't last forever. He needs to understand that the saddle goes on, but it comes off too. He needs to understand that he'll go in the trailer, but he's not trapped and will be able to get back off. The repetition makes the step a part of the horse's library of “knowns,” so that now that step can be built on without resistance.

Road to the Horse 2008 Relive Chris' second consecutive Road to the Horse Championship! Road to the Horse 2008 is said to be the most intense challenge to date. Watch clinicians Chris Cox, Ken McNabb, Tommy Garland and Mike Kevil showcase their talents on four untouched Quarter Horse geldings from the Wood Ranch. You can also get a behind-the-scenes look at your favorite clinician and his thoughts on the competition. Become a part of one of the most sought after equine events as these top clinicians share endless knowledge with you. This year was one for the record books, and you can experience it all on this 2008 DVD, produced by Tootie Bland and directed by John Fox.

I would like to thank Chris and everybody on his staff once more for the great time I had on the ranch last week. What Chris promises, he also delivers: I had a life-changing experience. It amazes me how Chris can know just when and how much pressure to put on a person to get the best out of her - just like with the horse. One of my fears before the clinic was that I would once again be pushed to the point where everything falls apart, but that did not happen. I came out a winner as well! I can't thank you enough for what you have done for me and my horses!
