Chris Cox Begin the Journey Clinic
with Stormy Mullins and Clayton Anderson
Begin the Journey Clinic
Clinic Overview
Stormy Mullins and Clayton Anderson will now be offering a chance for beginner and intermediate riders to get an introduction into the Chris Cox Horsemanship program.
About Stormy
Stormy is a 3rd generation horseman. He grew up with a love for horses and focused on showing livestock and competing in rodeos. His career paths lead him to education, where he spent 27 years as Ag instructor at the high school level. In 2003 he had the opportunity to combine his knowledge of rodeo with his education background when he was recruited as rodeo coach at Weatherford College. About 7 years ago, he met Chris Cox, they became fast friends and Chris asked Stormy to manage the ranch and equine operations at Chris Cox Horsemanship Company. Over the past 5 years, Stormy has been the man behind the scenes - taking care of over 100 head of registered quarter horses and the Chris Cox breeding program. He oversees the feed, care and training program designed by Chris Cox. He has been "hands on" in every phase of the operation. Both at the ranch clinics and on the road with Chris, Stormy has learned Chris' gentle and effective method of training horses. Stormy's educator skills give him the perfect foundation to communicate and share this knowledge with students at Chris Cox Begin the Journey Seminars.
About Clayton
Clayton has been riding horses and living the western lifestyle from infancy. He helped his father run the family farm working on maintenance, looking after livestock and assisted in raising and harvesting 30,000 bales of Alfalfa hay yearly. He first attended one of Chris Cox's clinics in 2008. At that time Chris was very impressed with Clayton's focus and self discipline as a young man and offered him an apprenticeship position at CCHC. Clayton accepted the job after graduating from High School and considers his work with CHCH as his college education. It has been his dream to work with horses and make horsemanship his vocation in life. For the past two years he has assisted Chris in all of the 6 day clinics at the Diamond Double C Ranch as well as on the road at many 3 day clinics. Clayton's focus and mature demeanor have provided him with the ability to impart the knowledge learned from working with Chris.
Clinic Details
Covering topics such as ground work, seat position, rein management and leg position, these clinics are an excellent opportunity to begin gaining horsemanship skills that will last a lifetime.
The number of participants will be limited so each rider can expect to get individual feedback from Stormy throughout the clinic, as well as benefit from the feedback he will give others. Auditors will be allowed at a cost of $35 per day and cannot bring horses to the clinic.
The Begin the Journey Clinics will cover the basic horsemanship techniques that Chris teaches in his Instructional Program 1, but rather than simply taking instruction from a DVD and hoping to follow accurately, clinic participants will have Stormy there in person to oversee, evaluate and assure their progress.
Stormy and Clayton will scrutinize the horses in the clinic, assessing their individual personalities in order to use his insights to help clinic participants better understand their horses. Sharing his vast knowledge and experience with Chris Cox Horsemanship, Stormy will make it possible for both clinic participants and auditors to move toward a more harmonious partnership with their horses.

Host a 3-Day Clinic
Not everyone can travel to the Diamond Double C Ranch for the clinics offered in Texas. So, to make his horsemanship program more widely available, Stormy is offering 3-Day Clinics throughout the country. Local people act as hosts at their own facility, if it meets the requirements, or at a local facility that does.
Hosts enjoy benefits such as a space in the clinic at no charge. They also retain proceeds from stall rentals. More than that, they get the satisfaction of knowing they have made it possible for the folks in their area to learn first-hand, the gentle, effective and practical horsemanship techniques that are the hallmark of Chris Cox’s program.
